Visit Expoo at Tabloo
In the morning, you will explore the Tabloo’s permanent exhibition together with a guide, gaining hands-on insight into radioactivity, radioactive waste management, and research into nuclear applications.
Visit HADES
In the afternoon, you will take a lift 225 metres underground to the heart of the Boom Clay, where the HADES laboratory is located. This unique place is where scientists and engineers develop and test the technologies needed to construct, operate and close a deep clay disposal facility. During the guided visit discover the experiments that investigate the safety and technical feasibility of geological disposal.

Participants
Registration is only possible for groups: individual registrations are not possible and we do not combine smaller groups into one group. A group has a maximum of 24 participants, each of whom must be at least 18 years old.

Time schedule
The guided tour of the permanent exhibition in Tabloo starts at 9:30. This visit lasts until around 12:00. You are expected at HADES at 13:20. The visit will end at around 15:30.

Lunch
At noon, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Bistroo. Nice weather? There is a large terrace available. Would you prefer bringing your own lunch? Then you can take a seat at the large picnic benches in the park.

Price & tickets
The price is €8.00 per person + a guide at €160.00 for both visits. After registering, you will receive an email from us asking you to fill in a visitor list with some details. So be sure to keep an eye on your mailbox, because this step is necessary to complete your registration.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I have to be 18 years old to take part in this visit?
It is legally defined that only adults are permitted to visit the HADES underground laboratory.
Why is this a temporary offer?
In 2027, the lift will be completely renewed. For now, we would like to organise a few visits to improve the experience. Hopefully, this will allow us to include the visit in our permanent offering by 2028.
Should I wear or bring safety clothing?
No, this is not necessary. You are only required to wear flat shoes, so no heels. You will receive a helmet on site.
May I take photos or videos?
In HADES, the use of mobile phones is not permitted. But in Tabloo, you may take as many photos and videos as you wish.
Is this only for associations?
Certainly not! You can form a group with anyone you like. As long as you stick to the maximum of 24 participants, there is no problem at all.
Is this visit accessible to wheelchair users?
Unfortunately, this visit is not wheelchair-friendly due to the infrastructure of HADES. However, you are most welcome to pay a visit to Tabloo!
